Our Manifesto for Cannabis Wellness

10/01/22

Much more than a concept store dedicated to cannabis wellness and hemp, Aquerone is a movement committed to shedding light on medicinal plants. Through education and community spirit, we aspire to democratise natural and holistic remedies for the masses. We believe that small actions can lead to big results. Through the publication of this manifesto, our wish is to put wellness, health and social justice back at the center of the debate.

Cannabis and hemp: An ancestral healing plant and ally for well-being
Hemp is among the first plants cultivated by man. Before prohibition in the XXᵉ century, hemp and cannabis were predominant in France, in the food, therapeutic and industrial sectors. Nowadays, with 500,000 habitual users and 4,000,000 occasional users, cannabis occupies a consequent place in French society. According to a C.S.A. survey, 55% of French people remain hostile to the regulation of cannabis, as a wellness product or for medical purposes. At Aquerone, we are part of the 44% of French people who consider that the prohibition of cannabis is an infringement of individual liberties, especially those of medical patients.
The cost of cannabis and hemp prohibition
Many countries have observed unprecedented benefits following cannabis legalization including The main opposing argument to cannabis legalization is self-medication, as well as the shift from medical cannabis to "recreational" cannabis. The objective of medical cannabis (and what differentiates it from recreational cannabis): to allow the patient to live correctly and with dignity. The name "recreational cannabis" discredits the plant and its patients. Cannabis has always been part of medicine, and after many years of absence, it is now coming back. Patients are the main vector of this return, worn out by conventional and potentially harmful substances, such as opioids. The concept of cannabis wellness corresponds to consumption tailored to each individual. It is based on the principle of empowerment of consumers and patients. The war against cannabis has cost too much - humanly, socially, economically, ecologically. Today, France continues to make mistakes regarding CBD regulation, despite a flourishing industry of entrepreneurs providing alternatives to illegal trade.

The legalization of cannabis and hemp, a public health issue
We advocate the cultivation of hemp to eradicate the toxic materials it can replace. We want the history of cannabis to be recognized. We want police violence related to the tracking of dealers and consumers to stop and the justice system to focus on serious crimes. We demand that patients with serious illnesses be able to seek relief without fearing for their freedom or physical integrity. We demand that cannabis be treated not as a common drug, but as a powerful medicine that is potentially dangerous to abuse. We believe that small actions can lead to big conclusions. We have the opportunity every day to reinvent ourselves and the world: history has shown that humans can change the world for the better. Cannabis legalization impacts us all.
